Zach's Clemson Graduation
Way to go!
Recently, we had reason to celebrate as our friend Zach graduated from Clemson University. Of course, we had expected that we would, especially since we already went on a cruise to celebrate his graduation. But we knew he could do it. And he did.
We took a few photos after the graduation ceremony. It was warm out, so we didn’t make Zach wear his graduation gown, although keeping on the cap was nice.
Zach’s family was happy, as well they should be.
Zach’s extended family was happy, too. It was great that they were able to be there to see this momentous occasion.
Zach’s Burns family was happy, too. We were glad that we got to be there as well. It was a good time with some good people, and it was nice to see the college campus, too.
After we had taken the previous photos, we saw that the gate to the football stadium was open, and there was a line of people waiting to take photos with Howard’s Rock. So of course we got in the line and waited our turn, too.
For those of you who aren’t college football fans, Howard’s rock is a rock from Death Valley that has been placed on a pedestal at one end of the football stadium, nicknamed Death Valley. Before each game, the players run in the gate and touch the rock for good luck before running down the hill and onto the field. The rock is usually covered in a protective glass case, but the case had been removed on this day, so it was a good photo opportunity. Of course, someone was standing close by to watch over things.
Also, you can see here that Zach did not get just a diploma cover. They actually gave out the real diplomas at graduation. That seems to be rare these days, so it was coo to see that there are some exceptions.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, Laura made matching shirts for all of us to wear. Due to circumstances, we didn’t get the fancy photo that we wanted with all of us in our matching shirts, but we did ask a passerby to take a quick phone photo for us.
Here is a detail of the shirts, just in case they are too small in the larger photo. Pretty cool!
We also got to spend a little time with Laura’s aunt and uncle. They live close by, and they were kind enough to let us stay a couple of nights at their house. Always great to get a little family time!
Way to go, Zach! Looking forward to your next graduation ceremony in a few years!
P.S. You can see a few more photos from the day at the Burnsland Gallery.
