Wilderness Lodge in the Wilderness

The Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World appears to actually be in the wilderness of Florida.

When we are at the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World, we often walk down the boardwalk near the beach. The boardwalk leads to the boat dock, but we like to walk out there even if we aren’t going to catch a boat.

The cool thing about the boardwalk is that over the years the tress around it have grown up pretty well, and there are places along the boardwalk where you can’t see anything but trees. And of course the boardwalk. But no buildings or anything else.

And then as you continue to move along, you can catch a glimpse of the Wilderness Lodge buildings every now and then. And it becomes quite clear why they named the hotel what they did. Because it seems like you are way out in a wilderness somewhere far away from everything.

Except for the fact that you can still hear people splashing in the pool, which isn’t too far away. And you can hear the horns of the boats as they approach or leave the boat dock, even if you can’t see them.

But still, even with those sounds, it is a pretty cool feeling.
