Wilderness Lodge Boat Dock Through the Trees at Walt Disney World

A boat on Bay Lake docks at the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World, as seen through the trees during our 2019 Florida Summer Vacation.
We were on our way to catch a boat that would take us to Fort Wilderness Campground from the Wilderness Lodge, and I saw through the trees that a boat was already at the dock. So I snapped a quick photo of it. The trees and bushes in the foreground provided some great framing for the boat. And we were not in a big hurry, so I knew that if we missed this boat, another one would be along before too long. Why bother getting all worked up over things when we are on vacation and don’t really have a schedule to live off of?
I always like the rustic look of the Wilderness Lodge boat dock, and the trees here add to that atmosphere. I also like how you can see another boat to the left of the dock. But we knew that was not our boat, either. We would be on one of the smaller boats.
Still Closed
It is still a little strange knowing that none of that is happening right now. Boats are not coming and going. People are not visiting the theme parks or staying at the hotels. Even though everything has been closed down for a while, it is still a little strange.
Yes, Disney Springs has opened again with limited capacity. That is a good start. But I wonder how much longer it will be before the parks and resorts open. And I wonder if things will ever get back to normal, as far as the normal that we knew in the past. Maybe we will get back to that old normal, even if it does take a while to get there.
And who would have thought six months ago that we would be where we are now? If you had said that Walt Disney World, and most everything else, would be closed for an extended period of time, everyone probably would have laughed at you. But here we are, living that COVID-19 reality right now.
I still stand by what I have been saying all along, and that message is this: Good times are ahead. All of this won’t last forever, because it is not in our nature to give up and quit trying. Better days are coming.
Don’t give up. And keep on encouraging each other.

About the Photo
As I mentioned above, this was a quick shot through the trees as we were walking to the boat dock. Sometimes you see something that you just know will make a good photo, especially if you are in the habit of looking for things like framing and interesting angles. Having your camera ready at all times is a must because of situations like that. Unless you have a lot of batteries, you can’t keep your digital camera turned on at all times. But it is good to know enough about it to be able to turn it on quickly when you see something, just in case that boat leaves the dock rather quickly.
Also, this one was slightly dark, and the sky was blown-out white. But thanks to the Raw file and Aurora HDR, I was able to get some of that detail out of the trees and out of the sky, too. Raw files really make a difference, as I often say.
