Where does the time go?

I checked my calendar this morning, and it is telling me that it is January 12. What? Already the 12th day of January? Already the 12th day of 2012? Where has the time gone?

We have already had 10% of a third of this year! That is 3.3%! At least it is if you round up very slightly from 3.2786885%. Which I do. Who needs to be that accurate, anyway? I’m sure you might need that much tolerance for something important, such as if you are trying to split an atom or create world peace. But this is just a meaningless blog post, so we won’t argue about decimal places. At least not 99.876873% of the time we won’t.

Anyway, it seems like time is ticking right on by. Tick. Tick. Tick. Or for those of you who watch “60 Minutes,” TickTickTickTickTickTick. (That isn’t a joke about being old, by the way - that it just how that stopwatch sounds on the commercials.) Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

I don’t necessarily have any grand plans for 2012, but if I did, I already have 12 fewer days to get them done. Which is almost two weeks. And considering there are only 52 weeks in the year, that is a good bit of time. In just no time at all, we will all be sitting around at a New Year’s Eve party watching TV with songs by some people that no one under the age of 23 has heard of, and we will say to each other, “Where has the year gone? Didn’t we just start this year? I wish I had gotten off to a better start in those first 12 days so that I would have something to show for my year!”

And while we are at it - just as a reminder, there are only 354 days left in the year. And only 347 shopping days until Christmas. Don’t want to forget about that. Not that you can, when the stores start putting out their Christmas stuff at the end of September. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.

So go out there and make the most of your time! College football is already over, and NFL football will be over soon, too. So there really isn’t any reason to sit on the couch doing nothing! Get out there and live!

After, of course, you read each and every important post here at the Burnsland Blog. Don’t give that up. It is good for everyone.
