Waves and Rocks

On the last day of our Kauaʻi trip, we were passing the time until our evening flight back home. One of the places we went to was Glass Beach near ʻEleʻele, a town with a name that I always enjoy. After we walked along the beach, we went up a little trail and found ourselves on an overlook with the water and the rocks down below.
As you can see here, it was quite a view! It was not your typical Hawaiʻi beach view that we are used to seeing, which is usually just miles and miles of sand. And I suppose this is really more of a “shore” view than a “beach” view. But it was really cool.
While we were there, some others were brave enough to venture down onto the lava rocks for a closer view. We, however, chose to enjoy the view from a distance. I donʻt know that it would have been any better to be down there on the rocks, because it was pretty nice from where we were. And I am sure it was a bit safer to stay where we were, too. Better to be safe, especially when you are a few thousand miles away from home.
Our trip to Glass Beach was a great way to end our Hawaiʻi vacation!
Simpler Times
Looking back on that trip now, I would not have thought back then that we would be able to describe those days as simpler times. But in the middle of the COVID-19 virus, that is what that seems like.
Right now, we are told not to travel, so that we donʻt help to spread the virus. We are even told not to be around other people any more than is necessary. We never know for certain if the grocery store will have what you need. There is not even any firm indication of how long all of this will last.
But from another point of view, these are somewhat simple times, too. Life right now consists of staying home, and maybe going to work if you are able to. No school, sporting events, church gatherings, movies, social parties, or other activities involving groups of people. Just days and nights at home. in some ways, these are the simple times, especially if you can keep from worrying about the future.
As I have said before, I am hopeful that those other simpler times will return, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Don’t lose heart! Things will improve!

About the Photo
As you can tell, the first photo started out as a beautiful scene all on its own. It is always nice to have something like that to work with.
I did what I could to improve it a little. That involved evening out the highlights and shadows somewhat, which also helped to bring out the colors and textures in the water. I did not increase the color saturation all that much, because I liked the colors how they were.
I did use a bit of a dream-like look here, because the farther we get from that trip, the more it almost seems like a dream. A very good dream, of course.
The photo of Laura is a bonus, processed in much the same way. I liked it, so I thought I would include it as well.
