Waves at Cocoa Beach / Snack Time

Waves at Cocoa Beach

While some people enjoy the beach for the sun, we enjoy it for the waves. Not just the water, but the moving water. We can find water in any swimming pool back home. But those pools don’t have cool waves. I don’t know which I enjoy more - riding the waves with our body board, or just standing there letting the waves push me around. Either one is fine with me.

A couple of things about this photo which I’m sure will be asked. Yes, I was standing in the water. It was only about a foot deep here, or maybe a little more, but I did have a firm grip on my camera, just in case. And yes, the photo does lean just a bit. I like it like that. Straight photos are boring sometimes.

Snack Time

Apparently, my stomach likes food. If it goes too long without it, it starts to let me know that it is needing something. And if I don’t take care of that need pretty quickly, it starts letting everyone else know, too, by growling. And it isn’t a very soft growl, either. It can be almost embarrassing at times.

Just imagine sitting at an important meeting. Someone is talking, and everyone else is listening quietly. All of a sudden, everyone hears a loud noise. Something like, “Eeerrraaaaaaarrr!” Everyone looks around to see whose stomach it might be. I look around, too, hoping that they don’t realize it was me. So if I am going to a meeting, I try to make sure I have eaten something before I go.

That scenario also happens just sitting around here at the office, although it isn’t quite as embarrassing. But it still can be a little annoying. And all of that is beside the fact that I’m hungry.

I try to keep something around at the office for just such occasions. But that can sometimes be a dangerous thing. Of course, my favorite snack is M&Ms. So sometimes I have a big bag here, and when I start to get hungry, I’ll eat a handful of M&Ms. Or two. Or three. And that’s where the problem comes in.

Last week, I didn’t have any M&Ms. But I did end up with a bag of Hershey’s Kisses that was left over from Laura’s school. You can’t eat just one of those, either. At least I can’t. And for some reason, I feel like those are even worse for me than the M&Ms are, although they are probably about equal.

So for this week, I have a jar of peanuts. That has to be better for me, right? I found that it is getting harder and harder to find salted roasted peanuts. They are still there in the store, but you have to look past the honey roasted peanuts to find them. And make sure you don’t end up with the unsalted peanuts – those just aren’t right. If I don’t have sugar, at least I can have a little salt, right? Because being completely healthy is just not possible. Well, it may be possible, but it doesn’t taste as good.

As long as the peanuts hold out, my stomach will be happy. And a happy stomach is a quiet stomach.
