Colorful Evening

The sun sets behind the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World as seen across Seven Seas Lagoon from the beach at the Polynesian Village Resort during our 2019 Florida Summer Vacation.

I am not really sure how many photos I took of Seven Seas Lagoon that evening as the sun was going down, but I know it was a lot. Every few minutes everything would change and it would all be worthy of another photo. And of course, I would take two or three just to make sure one of them turned out as I wanted. Then as the sun went a little lower, things would change again, necessitating more photos. That went on for a while, and it was great!

Laura and Jaylin might not have thought it was that great, because they had to wait around while I kept taking photos, but they were good sports about it. Plus, we went and got a Dole Whip and watched Electrical Water Pageant and the fireworks after this, so it was all good and everyone was happy.

Quick Changes

Nature fascinates me. You might have picked up on that if you have been reading posts here at Burnsland for a while. It is so interesting to see how cool God’s creation can be.

Take the above photo, for example. Compare it with the other Seven Seas Lagoon photos linked in the paragraphs above. Yes, there are some differences that come from photo processing techniques. But then there really was a lot of color in the sky that night, which was also reflected in the water. And those colors kept changing as the sun went down.

Or take the recent weather that we had here in West Tennessee. On one day, in the morning there was a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow. Everything was gray. And wet. But then in the afternoon, the sun came out. The sky was blue, everything was touched by sunlight. It all looked completely different. The same scenes changed greatly as the day went on.

That may sound simple, but to me, it is rather fascinating. God is at work all around us. And all we have to do is to sit back and watch.

About the Photo

As with the other photos on this night, there really was not much special that I did. Another guy was out there with his tripod, so I knew he was serious. But I just held my camera in my hands, set the settings for what I thought was appropriate, and pressed the shutter button. God’s creation did the rest.

For the processing of this photo, I used Aurora HDR, while for the two previous sunset photos linked above I had used Luminar. Both programs are rather similar, but I have really been happy with the results from Aurora HDR lately. And I purposefully gave this one a more natural look than I had given those other photos. They were interesting, but this one looks just a little more “real,” I think.
