Walking Down the Road at Circle B Bar Reserve
Laura and Jaylin take a stroll down a road through the wilderness at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, Florida. To borrow from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, “This here’s the wildest road in the wilderness!” Well, not really. Unless your definition of “wild” is blazing sun and biting mosquitoes. However, there are lots and lots of alligators in the area, so that may meet with your definition of “wild” after all. Although the alligators tend to stay by the shady path instead of this sunny path. I can’t say that I blame them.
It may look like Laura and Jaylin were all alone here, but of course they weren’t. Because I was right behind them with the camera. Just like on all of those reality shows where people look like they are alone because you can’t see the full crew right out of camera range. But we also weren’t alone here because there were several other hikers and explorers out that day. And the Reserve was having some sort of summer class, which is good for the children who were learning all about nature. However, it wasn’t so good for the rest of us who would run into them from time to time. I don’t have anything at all against kids, but the energetic bunch was a stark contrast to the otherwise lazy atmosphere at Circle B Bar.
So although there were other people there, I definitely prefer these two. And they don’t bite like the mosquitoes or alligators, too.

About the Photo
I wanted a narrow depth of field for this one, so that the background behind Laura and Jaylin (technically in front of them, since they were walking away from me, but anyway) would be out of focus. Opening up the aperture all the way to f/1.8 let in a lot of light, almost overexposing the photo on this bright, sunny day. I should look into a neutral density filter for this lens for these outdoor occasions. But I was able to dial down the exposure in Photoshop, making me glad I had shot in RAW instead of JPG.
