Walking Along the Boardwalk at Walt Disney World
We enjoyed a leisurely stroll on the Boardwalk at the Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World this past summer.
As you may know from reading things here in the past, we enjoy visiting the Epcot Resorts at Walt Disney World, which include the Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, and Beach Club Resorts. They are all connected by walkways, and you can get in some good exercise by walking the loop around to all of the resorts. And we usually reward ourselves with a soft drink and ice cream after our walk. Or maybe in the middle of our walk. Or sometimes even before our walk.
Photographically, the Boardwalk Resort is my favorite of all the Epcot Resorts, although the Swan and Dolphin are tied for a close second. Nothing against the Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts, either, because they are nice as well. I just haven’t quite found my photographic groove there, I guess. Although that doesn’t usually stop me from taking lots of photos there, too.
This past summer, we started out at the Boardwalk and made our way around, and I was snapping photos all along the way. Some of the architecture, some of Laura and Jaylin in front of the architecture. But as we reached the Yacht Club, which was our last stop before heading back to the Boardwalk, I realized that the focus was off on my camera, which meant that all of the photos I had taken were just slightly out of focus. The fisheye lens I use is a manual focus lens, meaning that the camera doesn’t do anything to the focus; you have to do that yourself. I had apparently twisted the lens slightly without realizing it. It was just enough of a change that it wasn’t noticeable in the camera’s electronic viewfinder, but I started noticing it when I looked at some of the photos on the larger view screen on the back of the camera.
Shock! Horror! Dismay! Well, it really wasn’t quite that bad, because it wasn’t the end of the world. I was a little disappointed, but not enough to drag the family all the way back around again. Fortunately, I was able to get a few good photos at the Yacht Club, and then I ran back through the Boardwalk to get a few more there, including this view above.
And you better believe that every time after that I checked the focus on the lens before shooting, just to make sure.
Oh well, at least we got some steps in. And some ice cream.

About the Photo
I used some different coloring on this photo to make it stand out a bit. Going along with the theme of the Boardwalk Resort, it has the look of an old postcard, such as what one who visited an actual boardwalk might have sent home to those there. Bold and bright, and yet slightly muted, too.
