Walking Along the Beach in Jamaica

Strolling Along

Walking along a beautiful beach at Puerto Seco Beach Park in Discovery Bay, Jamaica, as seen during our June 2022 Disney Cruise.

As you may remember, we went on a shore excursion to the beach when the Disney Fantasy docked in Jamaica during our cruise. It was a wonderful day at a beautiful beach, as you can see in the photo above.

I had mentioned this in the trip report, but I did wonder what was beyond that wall. Was the “Welcome” painted on the wall attempting to welcome us beyond the wall? Or was it just saying that we were welcome on this side of the wall? I actually did not spend all that much time pondering those questions, because who wants to worry yourself with things like that when you are at a beautiful beach?

It had been 13 years since Laura and I were last in Jamaica. And it was nice to see that the beaches there had not lost their charm.

Like the Old Days

Back in the good old days, I used to post a photo most every day here at the Burnsland website. Lots of things have changed since then.

One of the biggest changes is that I now often look at these website posts as storytelling opportunities. In those old days, I would just post a photo with very minimal words along with it. These days, I like to tell more of the story of the places that we visit, and often that works better with multiple photos in one post. Using more photos at one time does seem to limit the photos that are available to post later on.

Also, life has somehow gotten busier since those old days, at least for me. I really do not know how I found the time to do a new post most every day of the week. There must not have been as many distractions then as there are now. Yes, I am looking at you, social media.

And then on top of all of that, I don’t always have the desire to post something new every single day. I do have that desire some days, but not every day. And then sometimes when I do have that desire, I don’t know what to post, since I have used so many of the photos of our past trips already, and we have not been on any trips in a couple of months.

But I did recently look through some of the photos from our past trips, and I found a few here and there that I had not yet shared for different reasons. This beach photo is one of those. I guess I felt like I had already used several beach photos in the trip report, and they were starting to look a bit the same at the time. However, this one jumped out at me when I looked back through the photos, so I was a little surprised that I had not included it. That’s fine, though, because it gave me a chance to post it here.

So I still won’t be posting something new every day, but I might get back to posting photos from time to time. Nothing wrong with all of the art I have been posting lately, but photos are nice sometimes, too.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning; likewise, patience is better than pride. Do not let yourself be quickly provoked, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these days?” for it is not wise to ask that. - Ecclesiastes 7:8-10

About the Photo

Our day at the beach in Jamaica was a hazy day. It was not exactly overcast, but there was just a bit of haze in the air. That made all of my photos look just a little gray. Fortunately, I was able to make everything look sunny and bright in Raw Therapee. I would encourage you to shoot in Raw format and then use Raw Therapee. That program takes a little bit of effort to figure everything out. But hey, it’s free!
