Waimea Sunset in Hawaiʻi

Red Sky at Night

The sun sets across the water where the Waimea River meets the Pacific Ocean on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaiʻi.

I have said more than a few times that we saw lots of nice sunsets when we were in Hawaiʻi during our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip. But actually, we only saw 6 or so, because we were only there for a week. But there was a nice sunset just about every night, so that was a good thing.

We saw this particular sunset at the same place that I took one of my favorite photos of the trip, which you can see in the earlier post Laura and a Hawaiʻi Sunset. As the sun kept going down, the orange color in the sky became even more intense, and I liked the way the blues and oranges reflected off of the water here.

I was also happy to have taken this photo, because as you know, sunsets donʻt last forever. And they do not always look like that, either. The sun goes down every night around here, but because we are not around water, the sunsets do not usually look like that. I am glad that we have some photos to help with our memories of the beautiful sights that we saw. Especially all of the cool sunsets.

Fleeting

Nice sunsets are always interesting to see. However, you have to be quick, because they do not last for long. A nice sunset like that only stays around for a few minutes before the sun disappears below the horizon, and then darkness quickly sets in.

That is not just true for sunsets. So many things in life only last for a short time, and then they are gone. Things wear out and break. People do not stay in our lives as long as we would like. Our bodies do not stay young and healthy. Nothing lasts forever.

God blesses us with what he wants to give us for as long as he wants us to have it. Who are we to argue with God? Instead, take some time to be thankful for the blessings he has given you.

Appreciate what you have while you have it, because there will be a time when you do not have it. But rather than complaining about what we do not have, let us enjoy what we do have for the time that we do have it.

About the Photo

Since the time that I posted the earlier photo in the link above, which was taken at the same time as this one, I have intentionally increased the color saturation in most of the photos that I have shared, except of course for any black and white photos that you might see. That increased color saturation has only happened in the last month or so.

My tastes change, as I know happens to everyone from time to time. Right now, my taste is for lots of color saturation. Brighter, richer colors catch the eye more than photos with less color do. Or at least that is the case for me. So why not have photos with lots of color in them?
