The View from Glass Beach in Kaua'i
Waves and Rocks
A beautiful view from above Glass Beach in ‘Ele’ele on the island of Kaua’i in Hawai’i, as seen during our 2018 Kaua’i Trip.
The last beach we visited on the island of Kaua’i was Glass Beach, and it was a great way to end our trip. The view was beautiful, as you can see here. And the weather was perfect, as you can also see here. Of course, all of the beaches that we visited on Kaua’i were beautiful, just as you would expect.
I like being reminded of those beautiful views such as this one in the photos that I have from our visit. There was so much natural beauty all over Kaua’i, and we enjoyed all that we saw. There was quite a bit that we did not see, too. So maybe one of these days we will get back there to explore some more.
God’s creation is awesome, and I always enjoy what we get to see of it.
Constant
At Glass Beach, as with all beaches, the waves were constant. They were always coming in and crashing against the shore, never stopping. So many times when we go to a beach I end up using the same old joke: “I bet it sure gets quiet around here at night when they turn off the waves!”
But of course they do not turn off the waves, because there is no way to turn them off. They always keep coming, whether anyone is there to hear them or not. Over and over. Day and night. Constant waves.
In some ways, that reminds me of God’s love for us. It just keeps coming, over and over, day and night, all the time. He does not turn it off at night, or at any other time. It actually does not even matter what we have done in the past. God loves us regardless. That is not to say that He is always happy with us, depending on what we have done. But He still loves us and wants us to love Him, too.
While the constant waves are a good analogy of God’s love for us, there are some differences, too. His love for us is constantly full force. There are no big waves that hit you every few minutes. There are no high tides and low tides. God’s love for us never changes, never decreases.
God’s love for us is even more constant than the waves at the beach. And that is an amazing thing.
Bible Verse
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." - John 3:16-18
About the Photo
For many of the photos at Glass Beach, I was standing right down on the sand. But for this one, I had moved up to the area slightly over the beach. As nice as the sand was, I really liked the view from up there.
As with many of the recent photos I have shared here, this one was processed with Aurora HDR. Raw files are great, because they store so much more detail than a normal JPG file. However, on its own, a Raw file can be pretty flat as far as colors go. I really liked the increased color saturation I got here, especially in the blue water that I greatly enjoyed seeing.
