Under a Tree at ʻAliomanu Beach in Hawaiʻi
A Beautiful Day in Hawaiʻi
A tree provides shade from the sun during a beautiful day at ʻAliomanu Beach on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip.
This beach that Laura found for us to visit was absolutely beautiful. And the day was absolutely beautiful as well. On top of all of that, this tree was also absolutely beautiful for providing us some shade. It was not entirely too hot outside, but the shade of the tree was still very welcome, especially for those of us with slightly sensitive skin.
We had brought some lunch supplies with us, and so the shade of this tree provided a nice, quiet place for us to enjoy our food. And it had the added bonus of a great view to look at while we ate, too. There were some rocks to sit on for our chairs. There was not much cell phone service there, but who would look at their phone instead of enjoying the beautiful scenery in front of them? I didnʻt feel like I was missing out at all by not being able to check Facebook.
Yes, I still have some photos from our Hawaiʻi trip that I have not shared, believe it or not. Lots of them, in fact. So do not be surprised when you see one every now and then. It does not mean that we are back in Hawaiʻi again, but rather it just means that I am still enjoying the memories.
Where Are We?
Recently at church, a friend said, “I thought you guys were traveling again because you had posted a photo on Facebook from Florida!” No, we are still right here at home where we usually are.
My standard practice on our trips is to take lots and lots of photos while we are there. But then instead of uploading all of them at once either while we are there or right after we get home, I like to spread them out over time. Sometimes “over time” means a few years instead of weeks or months.
We usually only take one or two trips a year, along with some smaller excursions close to home. So don’t worry, we are usually at home. In case you need to know where we are.
Bible Verse
Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who strays from his home. - Proverbs 27:8
About the Photo
This is actually the third version of this photo. I did not post the other two. At first, I thought the first one was cool. But then the more I would look at it, the more it seemed unnatural. Not slightly unnatural like the Boardwalk photo I posted recently, but too unnatural to be good.
So I went back and worked on it again. But the second version ended up being a bit like the first one. Just a little too unnatural.
That is why this is the third version. And I figured I better stop looking at it and post it before I decided I didn’t like it, too. But actually I am quite happy with this one. It just took me a few tries to get there.
