Under the Beach Umbrella

Here we are enjoying a relaxing rest underneath our beach umbrella. Except that you can’t see us in the picture. Instead, you are seeing what we see. Looks pretty nice, doesn’t it?

Other People’s Wedding Pictures

While we were at the beach, we got to be in some other people’s wedding pictures. No, it wasn’t anyone that we knew. Complete strangers, actually. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

One day as I was wandering around taking pictures, I saw some people that weren’t exactly dressed like the rest of us beach goers. They actually had on real clothes instead of bathing suits. And given the general lack of clothing that you see at the beach, that made them immediately stand out.

There were a couple of adults and three kids, and one of the adults had a camera. They were all wearing white shirts or dresses, so I figured that they were there to have their family picture made. So many people we know around here have a professional picture of themselves on the beach wearing matching white shirts or some other type of similar clothing, and I figured that’s what these people were up to as well. Although I was curious as to why they would be there early in the morning as they were. But I didn’t think much more about it and went on my way.

A little while later, while Laura and I were out in the water with our body board, we saw the group of people on the sand at the edge of the water, and someone else had joined them. And then we finally figured out what was going on – they were getting married. Well, at least the two adults were. The photographer was there to take pictures of the ceremony and pictures afterwards, of course. And the other person that joined them was the minister.

As they were taking their pictures, we kept ending up in the area behind them out in the water. Not that we were trying to be there. It’s just where we were. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they have us there in the background of their memorable day. They can pull out their wedding pictures and say, “Here we are getting married at the beach. And there are those crazy people out in the water. I wonder who they are?”

If that weren’t enough, the next day there was another wedding, involving the people in the picture above. They stayed for the longest time taking pictures after their short ceremony. And while we were under our umbrella at this particular time, we were once again out in the water for part of that time, too. So maybe we are in their wedding pictures as well. If you are curious about this group of people, you can go to the large view of the photo and see from left to right: the minister (he’s wearing a tie and no shoes – is that official?), the photographer, the daughter of either the bride or groom, the groom, and the bride.

Hmm, I wonder if there is any need for a professional out-in-the-water-during-beach-weddings person? I think I could do that.
