Twenty Years
Twenty years ago today, a couple of kids got married. You may think we are a couple of kids now, but back then at 22 and 20, we really were a couple of kids.
In some ways, twenty years seems like a long time. And I guess in some ways, it is. Laura has now been married half of her life, and I am not too far behind. But that is because I was older than she was when we got married, just in case you needed help with the math. The fact that she reached the “married half her life” status before me doesn’t mean that I am younger. Even though I try to make that joke every time.
Anyway, these last twenty years have really flown right on by. When we got married, I probably thought that our twenty year anniversary seemed like a long way off. But looking back, it hasn’t been that long at all. I suppose that just means that time passed quickly because we were having fun. Which we were. And we still are. It is still always fun to get to spend time together, and we have fun no matter where we go, and no matter what we are doing.
So hopefully, at twenty years we are just getting started.
Oh, and I’m sure you know this already, but the photo of us above wasn’t actually taken on our actual anniversary. However, because we went on our Disney Cruise in honor of our twentieth anniversary, I think it still fits here. And besides that, the photo is from the beach at Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line’s private island and one of our most favorite places in the world. Even on a cloudy day.
