Twas a Short Sleeve Christmas Eve
While most people spend their holiday season dreaming of a white Christmas, we know that is very unlikely around here. Not completely impossible, because we have had a few, but not very probable. But we do usually have seasonal cool weather for Christmas, since it does come right after the winter solstice.
However, this year was a bit different. Thanks to some unseasonably warm temperatures, we wore short sleeve shirts all day long. And we didn’t even get cold. Even after going outside for a while. What’s up with that? There was definitely no dashing through the snow this year at Christmas!
We spent most of the Christmas Eve day at my parents’ house, as we usually do. This year, it was just the five of us, so it was a rather small crowd. Here are a few photos proving that we did indeed wear short sleeve shirts that day.
Here we all are, looking rather festive. Especially Laura and my Mom, who had on their matching Mickey Mouse blinking Christmas light ears. Except that I made them turn the blinking lights off, because it was messing with the photo exposure. So you can’t see them blinking here. But they did.
Up next are the three of us Burnses, showing off our short sleeve shirts. Laura and Jaylin had Christmas short sleeve shirts to wear, but I was unprepared. So I grabbed my Mickey Hawaiian shirt to go with the warm weather theme instead. Some astute people would probably point out the contrast between my shirt and Jaylin’s shirt. Mickey has the same pose in both, but under very different circumstances. Yet both were applicable that day.
Jaylin poses here with his grandparents, who are almost able to hide behind him now. What happened to that little kid that used to run around everywhere? And why does this big kid keep following us around expecting us to feed him?
And here are Laura and me by ourselves, just because.
Although it was just the five of us on Christmas Eve, we did have a larger family gathering two days earlier, when my sister and her family were in town. And my grandmother came over for the occasion as well. So here we all are together:
So as you can see, we had some great Christmas times, even with the unusually warm weather. I hope you and your family had some great time together for Christmas as well, no matter what kind of weather you were experiencing!

About the photo: All of these photos were taken with my Olympus camera, all using the handy remote control feature through the iPhone app that works with the camera over its own wi-fi connection.
