A Train at Main Street Station at Walt Disney World
All Aboard!
A train from the Walt Disney World Railroad is at Main Street Station in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, as seen during the 2019 Band and Chorus Disney Trip.
During that trip, the Walt Disney World Railroad was closed for the construction of the Tron roller coaster in Tomorrowland. So the trains were not running, and you could not ride them. However, they did leave one parked in the station, and you could go visit it up close.
This particular train at Main Street Station was Engine No. 3 Roger E. Broggie with the 200 series cars behind it, in case you were wondering. Yes, in the past the Broggie has traditionally pulled the 300 series yellow coaches, but they can switch which engine pulls which coaches whenever they want to. Just an interesting little point. Also, they have switched out which engine is parked at Main Street Station during this time of construction. Recently, Engine No. 4 Roy O. Disney was at the station, from what I have heard.
One nice thing about the railroad being closed is that it makes getting a photo like the one above easier. In normal circumstances, you would have to wait for a train to be coming into the station, and then press the shutter button just at the right time to have it lined up just like you wanted it, or as close as you could get it, depending on how quickly you pressed the shutter.
These days, you have all the time in the world to make sure everything is just right, because the train is not going anywhere. Of course, that won’t last past when the construction is over, so I was happy for this opportunity when I got it.
Patience
I am not always a patient person. I don’t always like to wait on things. In normal times, if the train had not been in the station or just arriving, I would not have waited around to get a photo set up like this. I would have just taken a photo of the station without a train and moved on. My typical photo style while we are at Walt Disney World is to either stop walking or just slow down long enough to take a photo and then move on. Many other situations in my life follow that same plan.
Because we live in a society where we can get things almost instantly, from fast food restaurants to information here on the internet, we have lost our sense of patience. It is good sometimes to be forced to wait on things, because sometimes good things take time.
I am trying to be more patient these days. I try not to get in too big of a huff if traffic is making me take a little longer to get where I am going. And I try not to get upset and move on if a web page does not load immediately. Plus, I try to be patient with people when they don’t do things when I expect them to be done.
And I try to be patient with God. Because his timing is the best.

About the Photo
I really was not any more patient in taking this photo than I am with any of my other photos. But this time around I didn’t have to wait, as I said before. Plus, the weather conditions were just about perfect that day. Not to mention the great framing from the tree branches. Everything was just about perfect, and I didn’t have to expect the rest of my group to be patient with me while I took my photo.
Even though patience is very much a necessity, it is nice when everything works out just right like it did here.
