The Top Posts of 2013
As the year 2013 winds down to a close, here is a list of the most popular posts at The Adventures of Steve from the past year.
Just a note: to qualify for this list, the post had to actually be posted in 2013. There are some perpetually popular posts from past years here, but I am not including those. And these rankings are based on the number of pagviews each post received according to Google Analytics.
So anyway, here they are:
10. Morning on the Disney Cruise Verandah
Several of the popular photos come from our Disney Cruise from this summer. I do like this relaxing view from the connecting verandahs of our two staterooms. Wish I were there again.
This whimsical photo from Adventureland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom shows the spitting camels next to the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. I’m not really sure why this one was so popular, but I like it, too.
8. Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Dream
This photo from the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream ship has all sorts of interesting lines and curves and lights. And hey, there’s Walt Disney, too!
7. The Chinese Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Since they added the Sorcerer Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it has become more difficult to get a good view of the Chinese Theater. I like how this one, taken with a wide angle lens, turned out. And apparently several others liked it, too.
6. Uptown Jewelers on Main Street USA
This photo was actually taken during our 2012 trip, although I didn’t get around to posting it until this year. On that trip, I had gone a bit wild with the fisheye lens, but it did produce some pretty neat views like this one.
5. A Grand Courtyard at the Grand Floridian
This photo was a bit difficult in processing to get it to look just like I wanted it to, so I was delighted to see that all that hard work was well received.
4. Cinderella Castle from Tomorrowland
I’m not sure if this one was popular because of the somewhat unique view of Cinderella Castle, or perhaps because of the processing. Personally, I like it because Laura and Jaylin are among the walkers at the left.
3. Looking Back: Magic Kingdom in 1989
It really is no surprise to me that these Looking Back posts are popular. After all, they do play off the nostalgia that everyone has for Walt Disney World, including me. Look for more of these in the future.
2. Mickey Pool on the Disney Dream
This post was made even more popular when the Disney Cruise Line’s official Twitter account retweeted a link that I had tweeted. That led to the biggest one-day spike in traffic ever at my blog!
1. Looking Back: EPCOT Center in 1989
I do enjoy putting together all of the Looking Back posts, because it gives me a chance to go back and see how things were. And these posts are usually pretty popular, too. This one received an extra boost this past month, several months after it was originally posted, when someone linked to it from a popular discussion board. Thanks, whoever you are!
