The Magic Kingdom Under a Cotton Candy Sky
The clouds above the Magic Kingdom seem to be made of cotton candy as the sun sets at Walt Disney World in Florida.
The view from the ferryboat as it crosses Seven Seas Lagoon and approaches the Magic Kingdom is always a neat one. But it is even better at times like this, right after a storm. Often, the rain in Florida drives people indoors. But sometimes it is worth it to brave a few raindrops, because the sky can often be pretty spectacular right before or after a rain shower, especially in the evening as the sun is setting.
On this particular day, we hadn’t actually planned to ride the ferry. But the line for the Monorail looked to be pretty long, so we switched to the ferry on a whim. And when it was all said and done, we were glad we did. And fortunately, there weren’t that many people on the ferry, so that it was easy to get over to the side railing and take a few photos. Riding the ferry also reminds you just how tall Cinderella Castle actually is, as you can see it towering above the rest of the landscape as it does here.
Why can’t skies look like this all of the time? If they did, then we wouldn’t appreciate it when they do look like this. So it is better to see it from time to time than to take it for granted, I guess.
And is the sky ever really that color? I might have “helped” it along just slightly in processing by bringing out the pinkish color, but not too much.
