The Disney Dream After Dark
One of the cool things about a cruise on the Disney Cruise Line is the experience of being on one of the Disney ships. Each of the ships is packed with things to do and places to explore, and I always enjoy just wandering around to see what I can find.
And just like the Disney theme parks and resorts, everything on the ship looks different, perhaps even better, after dark, thanks to interesting lighting of already interestingly-designed spaces.
Below are a few photos from after dark on the Disney Dream from our cruise this past summer. Click each one to see it larger, if you wish.
Laura, Katie, and Jaylin sit for a moment in the deck chairs while enjoying the cool night air. And that blue color to the left isn’t some strange phenomenon. Instead, those are lights from the side of the ship shining down onto the water. Simple, yes, but pretty cool, if you ask me.
This is the view from one of those deck chairs in the above photo. It’s nice and relaxing to sit there during the day, but even more so at night after a big meal in one of the restaurants.
The funnels all have the Disney Cruise Line logo on them, and they are dramatically lit at night, even including some neon. I always see lots of people getting a photo of these. Including me, of course.
The sign for the AquaDuck “water coaster” was lit up at night, even though the coaster had closed for the evening. I enjoyed all the different shades of light, because they seemed to complement each other instead of one light outshining another.
Here is a look down into the main pool area at night. A few people are still in the Mickey Pool, while several more are watching a movie on the big screen. Always something going on, it seems.
I liked this seating area and how it looked at night. But then I also have fond memories of this area because we would eat our breakfast at one of those tables each morning. We would go inside the buffet to get our food, but because it was cold in there, we would enjoy a little bit of warmth outside while we were eating. And talking. And just generally enjoying ourselves.
This was the view from our verandah at night, once again showing the blue lights shining on the water. And that little speck near the right of the photo was apparently another ship quite a distance away from us.
