The AquaDuck on the Disney Dream

The AquaDuck water slide on the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream ship begins at the top of one of the funnels and then loops out over the water before circling the upper decks.

When the newer Disney Cruise Line ships (that would be the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy) were introduced, one of the big new features of those ships was the AquaDuck “water coaster” around the top decks. You can see it going around the decks in the earlier Disney Dream Pool Deck post, by the way. In this view, you can see where guests enter the funnel through the large Mickey Mouse shape, and then where they come out of the funnel up above the Mickey shape.

I do have to say that the loop out over the water away from the deck goes by almost too quickly for me to really notice it. Maybe I am still trying to make sure I am holding on to my raft tight enough at that point, but I don’t usually have time to look down and see the water down below me. But it is still a fun enough ride for being a water slide on a cruise ship, just as long as you don’t have to wait in too long of a line.

Just make sure that you stay on your raft. On our previous cruise, we saw an empty raft go by, followed by a guy sliding along without a raft. Oops!

Not much extra work was done to this photo besides turning up the color saturation a bit and adjusting the highlights and shadows slightly. Nice, sunny days are easy to photograph!
