The setting sun fills the clouds with sunset colors at Shipwreck Beach on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip.

I have mentioned before that we saw lots of wonderful sunsets when we were in Kauaʻi to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. And this was one of the many. This particular sunset was actually the same night that we climbed the rocks of Shipwreck Beach to watch the sun go down.

As we were on our way to climb up on the rocks, I saw that the sun was already starting to make its way down below the horizon, so I turned and got this shot, just in case the sun had gone down by the time we made our climb. If you have seen that other photo, you know that the view was magnificent from up on the rocks. But this view was really nice, too. While it was not the photo that I was planning to get, it turned out to be a nice bonus.

A few people were out enjoying the evening on the beach, but most everyone had gone on to somewhere else for the evening. They missed a really nice show in the sky. I was glad that we were able to enjoy it.

More to Come

A few weeks ago, someone asked, “Now that you have been on a Disney Cruise, does that mean no more Hawaiʻi photos?” I am not sure if the person asking the question thought that would be a good thing or not.

But no, that was not the end. There are still plenty of photos that I have not shared yet, and a few others that I might want to go back and take a second look at sometime down the road.

There is no set posting schedule here at Burnsland.com, so you just never know what you might find on any given day. I like to think that keeps things interesting.

After all, if life were just the same thing all the time, that would get rather boring, wouldn’t it? So often, we have the power to keep things fun and interesting. It is just up to us to make that work.

Instead of settling for the “normal” way of things. don’t be afraid to change things up sometimes. It just makes life more fun.

About the Photo

As I mentioned above, this one was just a quick, unplanned shot as we were walking. Fortunately, at many of the places we visited in Kauaʻi, it was difficult to mess up the composition, because there were so many great views everywhere. I did not mind the people sitting at the beach, because they added a nice element to the photo.

In Photoshop, I did increase the color saturation somewhat, and I adjusted the color temperature slightly, so that the golden tones in the clouds were more prominent.

Otherwise, this one was relatively simple. There was no layering in of other exposures, no use of elaborate processing plug-ins. Just a simple sunset photo.
