Sunset at Seven Seas Lagoon

The sun sets behind the Polynesian Resort boat dock at Walt Disney World in Florida, as the Wedding Pavilion and the Grand Floridian Resort can be seen across Seven Seas Lagoon.

It was a peaceful evening at the Polynesian beach. Although you can’t tell it here, several people were out enjoying the evening air. And several cast members were setting up a large movie screen and a digital projector, with a campfire going nearby for roasting marshmallows. As we were leaving, we heard the announcement that the movie would be “Beauty and the Beast .” Watching a movie on the beach in the evening did sound like a great time, but we moved on.

Nice Hotels to Visit

One thing we like to do when we are in the area is to visit some of the different Disney hotels. It’s fun and it’s free. Well, it is free until you buy some souvenirs or eat at a restaurant. Which is mainly what we go there for. We ate at a few different restaurants at a few different hotels, but our favorite is always Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian, followed by Gasparilla Grill at the Grand Floridian. We always just eat at the counter service restaurants, although they do also have more expensive dining available.

The merchandise in the stores does start to look the same after visiting a few different hotels, although each one usually has a few items for that specific hotel, too. But sometimes we find things there that we haven’t seen at any of the other shops, so we always stop to take a look.

I suppose what keeps drawing us to these places is the unique atmosphere to be found at each one. Each place has its own distinct feel. But what keeps us from staying there is the price. At one hotel that we liked, I looked up the room rates on my phone. That’s quite a lot to pay for a bed and a bathroom, even with that great atmosphere.

So we probably won’t be staying at any of those hotels, especially the ones at the “deluxe” level, anytime soon. But that won’t stop us from dropping by for a visit.
