Sunset at Cocoa Beach

As the sun sets at Cocoa Beach, Florida, the storm clouds are illuminated by what is left of the sunlight at the end of the day. This view is actually looking out over the Banana River and not out across the beach into the Atlantic Ocean, in case you are wondering.

Unplanned Happiness

If you are wondering about the photo above, it was not some long planned photo setup. But instead, it was just something quick that turned out rather well.

After we had been rained off of the beach one day, Laura and I had gone to a movie (The Lone Ranger, our second time to see it because we enjoyed it so much) and out to eat (Red Lobster, one of our favorites). On our way back to our hotel room, we were noticing how the light from the setting sun was lighting up the storm clouds as we drove across the Cocoa Beach Causeway.

I commented on how that might make a nice photo, and Laura said, “Isn’t there a small park up ahead where we can pull over?” Of course, she was right as usual, and we pulled into the park for a few shots. And in looking at the photos that we both got with our cameras and phones, it is hard to imagine that lots of cars were zipping by right behind us, because this looks like a remote, far-away place of dreams.

We thought about posting our photos to Facebook to see if anyone might think we were somewhere exotic like Hawaii, although we never did do that.

And for something unplanned, this turned out to be among my favorite photos from the trip. That just goes to show that you should always keep your eyes open. And perhaps have a camera with you. Just in case.
