Sunny Florida Day at Cocoa Beach

There’s the Sun!

A sunny Florida day at Cocoa Beach looks inviting on these winter days we have been having, but I can be happy with those winter days, too.

The sun shines on a beautiful day at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, as seen during our 2019 Florida Summer Vacation.

By contrast, we have had lots of cloudy winter days back here at home. And those have been the good days. The not quite as good days have had rain mixed in, or really cold temperatures. Fortunately, the cold temperatures and precipitation have not combined on the same day to give us any frozen precipitation, even though the school people keep praying for it.

Plus, it was even cold in Florida for a few days recently, too. How cold? So cold that iguanas were falling out of trees. Now that’s cold.

So it happens around this time every year that I start dreaming of a nice, warm beach somewhere. Someplace like Cocoa Beach, for example, but on a warm day. But those dreams usually just remain dreams, and I keep on putting up with the cold and/or rain here. Still, it is nice to dream sometimes.

Good Days

And yes, I know that things are not really all that bad around here. I can deal with the cold just fine, even if it is not always what I want. Plus, there are places that are much colder than we are here.

The truth of the matter is that I don’t have anything to be unhappy about at all. I can choose to be unhappy about it, or I can choose to be happy and go on with my life. And put on an extra layer or two.

After all, people generally like to be around people who are happy. No one really wants to be around people who are always upset and complaining. Yes, it can be funny sometimes, and some comedians have made careers out of it. But overall, those kinds of grumpy people aren’t any fun to be around.

So choose to be happy. Choose to be joyful, which goes beyond happiness because it does not depend on your situations as much as on your outlook.

Joyful people don’t let their situations drag them down. Instead, they find a way to make the best of what they have. I may not be at the beach, but I have friends and family and a home and a job and everything else that I really need.

Life is good. Choose to see it that way.

Bible Verse

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. - Philippians 1:3-5

About the Photo

As nice as this photo looks, there are things that I don’t like about it. To me, the water has too much of a yellow/green tint to it. That is pretty much how it looks in real life, unlike the blue waters that we saw in Hawaiʻi.

I could have gone in and done some clever editing tricks to try to change it. But I decided to leave it and be happy with it. Because it still does look really nice, even if it isn’t quite how I would want it to look.

And on the flip side, I really do like how the clouds look here, along with the blue sky. So it is all good in the long run.
