Stained Glass at Christ Church Cathedral in Nassau
Beautiful Windows
Sunlight streams in through the stained glass windows of Christ Church Cathedral in Nassau, Bahamas, as seen during our 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise.
We had not actually planned to stop in at Christ Church Cathedral on our last visit to Nassau, because we had been in there a few times before. However, we were drawn in by the sounds of the pipe organ, as you may remember reading in the trip report, and of course we stayed for a few minutes once we were inside.
And while we were inside, we once again enjoyed looking around at all of the interesting architecture and stained glass windows, some of which you can see here. All of that is always fascinating to see, and much different from our more modern church building back home.
Another View
Above is a view looking at the front of the building, similar to other photos that I have shared before from our previous visits. And you can see that there are even more stained glass windows at the front, too. The windows in the first photo are at the right of this photo, in case you are wondering.
I also like that there was one person just sitting there in one of the pews. I believe that was a local person just sitting there, perhaps offering a prayer, or perhaps just listening to the organ music as we were. It is often nice to have a human element in a photo.
You can see more from our day in the Nassau portion of the 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise Trip Report!
Worship Places
It is interesting to see different places of worship and how they are designed. After all, we do all want to give our best to God. And if we come together to worship him, it helps to be in a place that keeps our minds centered on that purpose. Church buildings can be fascinating, and I enjoy seeing different buildings whenever we go places, even if we get to see them from the outside.
However, I believe that you do not necessarily have to have a fancy building in which to worship God. You can worship just about anywhere, no matter what the building looks like. What you do is much more important than where you are, I think.
God looks at our hearts more than at our buildings.
Bible Verse
For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. - Hosea 6:6
About the Photos
For these photos, I decided to take a rather subtle approach as far as processing goes. I felt that something over the top with lots of color saturation was not quite fitting for Christ Church Cathedral, so I chose to go the simple route here.
Both of these photos were still processed with Aurora HDR to bring out the detail in the windows without making everything else look too dark. But I did not push the processing to the limit (or perhaps past the limit) as I sometimes do.
