Some Halloween Decorations for 2021
Halloween Pumpkins!
Mickey and Minnie Halloween pumpkins shine from on top of our old piano as some of our decorations for the fall season.
Halloween is just around the corner, and it will be here soon! Laura has had our decorations out for a little while now, although many of ours would be considered as much fall decorations as Halloween decorations. This is fine with me, because that means that we can leave them out a little longer.
If you can’t read it, the sign next to the pumpkins reads, “Gather here with grateful hearts.” And that is just as appropriate now as it will be at Thanksgiving, too.
Here is another pumpkin, which sits on an orange pumpkin lace cloth, next to some fall-colored flowers. I like how the pumpkin is always happily smiling whenever we enter the room. His smile lights up the room almost as much as the light inside of him does.
There are several other fall and Halloween decorations throughout our house. But these two photos will give you just a little taste of what you might see here.

Just Around the Corner
Just after I typed the second sentence of this post, stating that Halloween is just around the corner, I received an email with the subject line, “Christmas is just around the corner!” I suppose that is almost as true as my statement about Halloween, but let’s not rush things too much, shall we? One holiday at a time, please.
And don’t forget that Thanksgiving is in there, too. To me, Thanksgiving is very important, because it is a reminder to be thankful for what we have. Not just on that one day or even only in the month of November, but every day.
So we have lots of “corners” that we are just about to go around. Enjoy each one without rushing on past it!

About the Photos
I used the 50mm prime lens for these photos. The main reason for that choice was due to the low light levels. I wanted to use the available light instead of using a flash or turning on the overhead light. The wide aperture of the prime lens was helpful for that.
One of the disadvantages of a wide-open aperture on a prime lens is the tight focus. That can be used to great effect, but it can also cause a few problems. These photos were originally taken a few weeks ago. For the original version of the second photo, the flowers were out of focus, which was distracting. So I made a second attempt yesterday, and that second try turned out better. It might not have been all that noticeable in the size of the photo that you are seeing, but it was enough to bother me and cause a reshoot. Fortunately, this particular subject was here in our home, so reshooting was easy. Don’t you hate it when you are traveling somewhere, and then when you get home you realize that a photo was out of focus?
