Snow - 50with50 No. 5
Snow, But Not Much
A snowy scene in our front yard created by a light snow shower on a recent February morning. This is the fifth entry in the 50with50 series.
Yes, we got some snow recently. But not much at all. It was really just enough snow to cover the grassy surfaces. And enough snow that if you did not have a garage or carport, you had to brush the snow off of your car before you could drive. Which makes me thankful for our garage.
There were also some reports of a few icy bridges that morning. I did not see any on my drive, but Laura and Jaylin did. But there was not ice on every bridge, which is strange to me. Is localized icing a thing? I guess it is.
Fortunately, I had enough time to run out quickly with my camera to get a few photos. This was actually the last one that I took (you can probably guess you will see more in future 50with50 installments), but this one was my favorite.
While completely snowy scenes are nice, in this one I like how you can still see some green in the evergreen trees. Those clouds are pretty nice, too. And I can’t always explain why I like having that light post in my photos, but I do.
(N)ice and Dreamy
Just for fun, I gave the photo a bit of a dreamy look, because snow is rather dreamy. However, I am not one to dream of snow all that often.
Laura and Jaylin were both dreaming of snow. They were dreaming that we would get enough snow to close schools, but unfortunately, that did not happen. That hasn’t happened in a while here. Maybe it will one of these days.
My dream with snow is that if we get any, it will come overnight while we are at home so that we don’t have to drive in it. I can think of worse things than driving in the snow, but I wouldn’t want to do any of them. We do not get all that much practice in driving in the snow around here, so no one really does it well.
However, I bet all of the auto body shops dream of us getting lots of snow every winter! More work for them!
Meanwhile, I am just over here waiting for summer to hurry up and get here.

About the Photo
As you probably know by now with the mention earlier of the 50with50 series, this photo was taken with a 50mm prime lens. And as I did not want to walk out in the snow, I was actually standing on the edge of our driveway. No need to zoom, since I couldn’t anyway, because I liked this full view here.
I went with a more subtle HDR look for this one than on some photos that I have done lately. I thought this look went well with this winter scene. It actually looks almost like a good jigsaw puzzle scene. Wouldn’t that be difficult? Yes, but fun.
