Sir Mickey's / Steroids and Spider-Sense

Sir Mickey’s at the Magic Kingdom

For some reason, I always take a few pictures of Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I don’t always realize that I’m doing it, but when I get home, I look and see that I have at least two or three pictures of this shop. I’m sure it has to do with the large beanstalk growing out of the windows, which adds a bit of green color. Or maybe it is because of its nearness to Cinderella Castle, which I usually end up working into the frame as well, as I did here.

And of course, we usually go inside the shop and look around, too. Can’t pass that up.

Steroids and Spider-Sense

Okay, I think it’s time to come clean, because you will probably notice my bulging muscles before long anyway. So I’ll just tell you now.

I’m taking steroids.

Yes, that’s right. Move over, all you pro athletes who won’t say it. I will. So now the truth is out.

But that isn’t the whole truth. Because I am not taking a performance-enhancing drug to try to enhance the performance of my blog writing. If only that would help.

Here’s the real story. The other day, I noticed something on my back. And as the days went by, it got more and more red. A visit to the doctor confirmed what I thought. It is most likely a spider bite. Not one of the more serious spider bites, such as a black widow or brown recluse, but some sort of spider. Or maybe an insect of some kind. But probably a spider.

So now I’m taking a steroid and an antibiotic for a few days. The bulging muscles will just be a nice side effect. Although I’m guessing they probably won’t last very long. There goes my chance at next year’s Home Run Derby.

An unfortunate side effect from the medicine’s taking away the spider poison will be that I will not be turning into Spider-Man after all. I thought I felt my spider-sense tingling one time yesterday, but as it turns out, it was just my stomach growling. Which may have been some sort of spider-sense, because it was something inside of me telling me that lunch was approaching. I guess it just isn’t the same, even though I haven’t experienced any other kind of spider-sense to know for certain if this is the real thing or not.

It looks like I will be just fine. But until then, I may try to climb the walls once or twice a day. Just in case.
