A Beautiful Evening

It seems like we often end up somewhere around Seven Seas Lagoon in the evening more than at any other time of day. And it often seems like there is a great sunset when we are there. See this 2012 sunset for another example. We do not necessarily plan it that way, but we must be on some sort of regular schedule or something.
I am not complaining, of course. Sunsets do make for some great photos, after all. This just happened to be one of those perfect evenings after an earlier rain shower, the kind of which are typical in a Florida summer afternoon. We were thankful for the blue sky and the interesting clouds. And so we lingered for just a little while to enjoy the view.
Of course, the beach is not quite the same any more since they restricted water access a few years ago. So the view is not quite the same as in that earlier photo. But it is still nothing to complain about.
A nice sunset is always a welcome sight.
Frustrations
Computers are great things. They allow us to do all sorts of things. I created this post on a computer. You are most likely reading this either on a computer or on a phone that is pretty much like a computer. Computers have made our lives much better over the past several years.
However, there is a time when computers are not so great, and that is when they do not work. Either they do not work properly or they do not work at all. When that happens, you suddenly realize just how much you depend on computers for so many things.
That happened to me recently, when my work computer decided to just give up. It would not do anything, because it would not boot up when I turned it on. I took it in to the shop, and they were able to salvage most of my data, but I lost all of my programs. So after a couple of days of the computer being in the shop, I lost most of another day trying to get all of the programs that I use loaded back on. There are still a few that are missing, but I can get things done again.
Of course, I did not stop working completely for those few days. Thanks to most of my files also being on the cloud, I was able to access them from another computer, although it was not set up quite the same of mine. That meant that it took a little longer to do things, because it was not what I was used to.
I would say that the lesson from all of this is not to be so dependent on computers. But for much of what many of us do, that is not an option. Computers are too much of our world for that.
So instead, the lesson is to be prepared. Be prepared for some problems as much as you can, so that maybe they are not entirely catastrophic, but instead just minor speed bumps.
And then do your best to just go with the flow. Do what you can, explain why you can’t do more, and know that in the long run it is just a minor thing. That might not work in every problem and every situation, but it will help many of them.
Hang tight, do your best with what you can, and wait for things to improve. That’s a pretty good way to live life.

About the Photo
I knew it was going to be a good evening for photos when I saw someone else out there with his camera and tripod. I did not carry my tripod with me, but I did not need it for this photo. The buildings and details turned out to be a little darker than I had planned, but I was able to bring up the brightness a bit with the Raw file.
