Sea View on a Disney Cruise

See the Sea

I always love views like this. If you have been around here at the Burnsland website much, you have seen some similar photos. The blue of the water and the clouds in the sky are always fascinating to me, so I try to capture them in as many ways as I can. I take some on each Disney Cruise, and I took some on our Carnival Cruise, too.

There is always something going on during a Disney Cruise, but I like to try to take a little time to enjoy the view from our verandah every now and then. When I took this photo, we had gone back to the room for something for a few minutes. I took the opportunity to go outside while the others were doing whatever it was that we had gone there for. It was worth it, even if it was only for a short time.

I saw a recent article that tried to explain why being around water is so relaxing. I actually didn’t really read the article. I already knew from experience that water is relaxing, so why read someone’s attempted explanation of why it is true? That might make me more stressed. It just is relaxing, and that is enough for me.

How To Relax

I will now tell you all I know about the perfect way to relax. Ready? Here it is: I don’t know.

I do know what is relaxing for me. That would be sitting at the beach and watching the waves, or sitting on a cruise ship and watching the waves. Or just sitting on the couch and watching the television pictures created by electromagnetic waves (or something like that), which sometimes is about as mindless as watching the waves.

But others do not find that relaxing. Some people don’t like to be out in the heat, or some people don’t like to sit for very long. Nothing wrong with that. Other people probably find things to be relaxing that would not relax me at all, such as sitting in a tree and waiting for deer to walk by, or waiting for a fish to bite at a worm on a hook. Those things are great for those people, but they hold no interest for me at all.

It is just another of the many fascinating ways that God made us all different. Can you imagine if everyone in the whole world wanted to relax in the same way? So then everyone in the whole world would be trying to go to the beach.

And that would not be relaxing at all.

Bible Verse

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. - Psalm 116:5-7

About the Photo

Because the sun had gone in behind the clouds at the time I took this photo, ahead of the rain that came a little later, the original version of this photo was very gray and hazy. It looked pretty dull, actually. So I loaded the Raw file into Aurora HDR and got to work on it. This final version is much more colorful and happy, even if there are clouds and no sun. The water looks blue now instead of gray. Just a reminder that photos can often be greatly improved with just a little work.
