Riding the Skytrain in Bangkok
When I was in Bangkok, Thailand, one of the best ways to get around was the BTS Skytrain. If you aren’t familiar with the Skytrain, it is a mass transit train elevated over the roads. Sort of a subway in the sky, if you are more familiar with subways. Or maybe like the Monorails at Walt Disney World, except these trains are larger and don’t just ride on one rail. As someone who loves trains of any kind, I enjoyed riding the Skytrain every time we had the opportunity to do so.
Imagine gliding smoothly over all of the heavy traffic down below, stopping every few minutes to let off passengers and pick up other passengers. I’m sure the passenger traffic on the Skytrain gets pretty heavy sometimes as well, such as the main commute times. But there always seemed to be room for us when we were riding.
As you can see in the photo, there were some seats, as well as a lot of standing room. And plenty of handles for holding by those who were standing. Some people use the handles, others don’t. But you might want to grab hold of something when the train starts to slow down so that you don’t end up leaning on your neighbor. Because your neighbor might not appreciate it.
As you can also see, the man to the right is engrossed in something on his phone. That was actually true for a lot of people, maybe even most of the people, every time we were on the Skytrain. Which makes me wonder what we all did to occupy our time of mass transportation before iPhones were invented. Can you remember back in the good old days when people actually read books or magazines while riding in some sort of mass transit vehicle? Or even talked to their neighbor? At least if you were talking to your neighbor when you fell on top of him because you weren’t holding on to a handle, he might not have gotten as mad at you as when you were completely ignoring him and just looking at your phone. Just a suggestion.

About the Photo
This photo looked just a little too ordinary, so I made the color temperature much warmer and increased the contrast a good bit while dialing back the color saturation somewhat. It is interesting how much some little changes like that can change an image.
