Riding Horses On a Cold Day
Laura had been wanting to ride the horses, because she hadn’t had a chance to do so since Thanksgiving weekend. Saturday ended up being a good day for it, because we were home most of the day without anything big to accomplish. When she asked if I wanted to ride with her, I don’t know what came over me, because I said I would. Actually, I don’t mind riding the horses all that much. Usually when we are home and she can ride, there is grass to cut or other such outdoor chores, so I usually choose those. But on this day there were none of those chores to do.
The only problem with the day was that it was cold outside. It would have been nice if the sun had been out, but instead it was cloudy and windy, and around 45 degrees. Maybe that isn’t all that cold if you are from the north, but it is plenty cold for us southerners. But once we got started, it wasn’t too bad.
In these photos, I am on Daisy and Laura is on Bubba. But actually, we started out the other way around, with me on Bubba and Laura on Daisy. We swapped about halfway through, so that she would be able to ride both of the horses. Which of course meant that I rode both of them, too. And if you are wondering if we have favorites, we actually don’t. They each have their own way of walking and their own personalities, but I wouldn’t be able to pick one over the other. Unless one were to throw me off, which they didn’t.
All of the photos were taken with my phone, because I didn’t think to get my camera out before we got started. And besides, I wouldn’t have wanted to ride with it the whole time, anyway.
After about an hour, we decided that we had had all of the cold that we could take. But it had been a fun day and a good ride!
