Pig-N-Whistle Bar-B-Q / Sorry for the Noise

Pig-N-Whistle Bar-B-Q

If you are like me, just hearing about barbecue makes you hungry. Maybe you can feel your mouth watering right now. And if hearing about it doesn’t make you hungry, chances are that smelling some barbecue cooking will make your stomach growl.

Here is the Pig-N-Whistle Bar-B-Q restaurant in Kerrville, Tennessee, just north of Memphis. We were stationed there while working a charity motorcycle ride. The restaurant wasn’t open yet, but they had started cooking for the day, and it sure did smell delicious. Too bad this isn’t a scratch-and-sniff picture.

Sorry for the Noise

We like to eat – we rarely miss a meal. And eating out with friends is even better, although we obviously can’t afford to do that all the time. So Sundays have become our traditional time to eat out with friends, usually Sunday night after church.

We have a group that we go eat with, and that group varies in size from time to time. This past Sunday, we actually had 12 people in our group, which is more than usual. It’s a little hard to talk to everyone at times when there are that many people, but it is still fun to have good company around.

And when we talk, we like to laugh. Someone may say something funny, and we will all laugh at it. And then someone else will say something even funnier, and we will laugh even harder. Our group usually includes several people who just happen to have a talent to say something that the rest of us will find funny. And when that happens, we laugh.

And when we do laugh, just about every time we will get looks from other people eating at the restaurants. Evidently, those people are the type who like to have quiet, overly serious meals without even a hint of laughter. Which might be understandable if you are at some high-priced restaurant. But the atmosphere at places like Firehouse Subs and Arby’s is usually not all that serious anyway. Although some people apparently expect it to be.

So I would like to apologize to those who like to take their subs and roast beef sandwiches seriously. We are just out having a good time, and a good laugh, enjoying our time together, preparing ourselves to face the week of work that lies ahead. And we will try to keep things as quiet as possible.

At least until someone comes up with a really funny line.
