Photos: A Walk Around the World At Walt Disney World
On our recent visit to Florida, we decided to take a walk on the Walk Around the World at Walt Disney World. If you aren’t familiar with the Walk Around the World, that is the name for the brick walkway that surrounds Seven Seas Lagoon. Back in the 1990s, you could buy a brick that would be placed in the walkway that was supposed to surround the entire lagoon. However, the walkway was never completed, so you can’t walk all the way around Seven Seas Lagoon. But you can still walk on the parts of the walkway that they did complete.
Our favorite part to walk is between the Contemporary Resort and the Magic Kingdom. Actually, we like to start at the Contemporary, walk to the Magic Kingdom, and keep walking until we get to the end of the walkway at the service canal that runs from Seven Seas Lagoon to the Rivers of America in the Magic Kingdom. Once we reach the end, we turn around and walk back to the Contemporary. It would be good exercise if someone didn’t stop all the time to take photos. That would be me. And Jaylin, too, this time around, as he had his own camera as well and enjoyed using it. I wonder where he gets that from?

As we were making our walk, some interesting clouds were passing overhead. We were watchful for raindrops, but we only got a few. Which was nice, because that Florida humidity needed a little help getting going. Fortunately, there were some nice colors to go along with those clouds.
The walkway gives a great view of the Grand Floridian. That heron on the bank of Seven Seas Lagoon obviously thought so, too. Personally, I liked having him in the photo. Almost as if he were posing, he stood very still while I took my photo. Unlike the boat, which just kept on moving. Thanks a lot, boat.
When we turned around to head back to the Contemporary, it was beginning to get dark out. No problem, thanks to the lights along the pathway. Personally, I think walking on the path at night is much better than during the daytime. And not just because of the lower temperatures, either. This view would be good during the daytime, but it is even better with lights.
I always like how the Contemporary glows with light at night. And here, those lights were reflected in the waters of Seven Seas Lagoon. As were the lights of the docked boats.
I have long been fascinated with this little “island” near the Magic Kingdom. Actually, it isn’t really an island, but just a barrier wall of sorts with palm trees planted on top of it. I never have been exactly sure of its purpose. To minimize the waves of passing boats at the Magic Kingdom, perhaps? Whatever its function is, I always think it makes a good photo.
In this last photo, you can see one of the boats that were still bringing guests to the Magic Kingdom. The time for the evening’s parades and fireworks was approaching, so many people were coming back to the Magic Kingdom for those. And as we walked on to the Contemporary, we encountered even more people walking from there to the Magic Kingdom. As we were winding up our night, they were still going strong. Nothing wrong with that.
So those are a few of the photos taken on just one of our recent walks. Because yes, we walked it more than once. And we even walked a few other parts of the walkway, too. But more about those later. Check back for more soon!
