Photo: Cocoa Village

While we were in Cocoa Beach, Florida, we saw a sign for “Historic Cocoa Village,” and we thought we would check it out. Once we got there, we found an older part of town with a bit of a “main street” feel to it. Unfortunately for us, we seemed to have gotten there too late in the day, because most all of the shops were closed. One restaurant looked to be open, but we had already eaten. Kind of odd that shops were closed at 7:00 on a Friday night, don’t you think?

There were several nice views of this older section of the town, such as the one above. This view would have been even better if the Cocoa Village Playhouse building on the left hadn’t been boarded up, but there wasn’t much I could do about that. I guess I could have gone and pulled the boards down to get some decent photos and then put them back up. But I didn’t have a hammer in our rental car. Or nails. Or the desire to go to jail.

I always enjoy finding the old parts of towns and wondering what it was like back when those areas were the bustling town centers. Must have been neat, although back then they probably thought it was just everyday life. Funny how perceptions change over time.
