Photo: Boardwalk to the Beach

Time for another photo from our summer visit to Cocoa Beach, Florida. And if you haven’t seen it yet, check out the Beach Memories video, just in case you like to see more than just a still photo.

These wooden boardwalks take you from the parking lot, over the sand dunes, and out to the beach at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach. And to me, they are always great subjects for photos. I suppose I like what the wood grains and tones add to the otherwise bright colors found at the beach.

This photo is deceptively simple-looking, but it required layering in two additional “exposures” from the original RAW file to get the right darkness in the wood as well as the right color in the sky. I remember the days when I would just post a photo straight out of the camera and be fine with it, but knowing what I know now, I am delighted to be able to do some extra work to make a good photo look even better. Like this one.

Kind of flat and boring, isn’t it? That just shows what a little bit of processing can do!
