Photo: An Evening Walk Along the Beach

An Evening Walk Along the Beach at Cocoa Beach, Florida

On our beach trips, I always want to go for a walk along the beach at the evening as the sun is going down. We usually end up doing that once on each trip at the most, but that is okay because that means that we are doing other fun things on the other evenings. And I am happy to have been able to do it once.

Because Cocoa Beach is on the Atlantic coast of Florida, the sun doesn’t set out over the water. But the time around sunset is still a pretty neat time to be out. For one thing, there aren’t as many people out there. In fact, I often wonder about the people that are out there as it is getting dark. Are they the kind that really, really don’t like the sun? Or are they the kind that really, really don’t like other people? Maybe it is that they just arrived that day and they want to get in some beach time, even if it is almost dark. Not that any of it is any of my business. I just wonder sometimes.

For another thing, it is usually a good bit cooler out than when the sun is high in the sky. However, because it is Florida and because you are right next to a large body of water, there is still more than a bit of humidity. So I’m not saying that you won’t sweat while you are out walking.

As the sun is going down, the area takes on a more peaceful feel to me. Things are starting to slow down, and people don’t seem to be in as much of a hurry. The waves are still going full speed, of course, because they don’t turn them off at night. But being out there at this time is relaxing. I like it.
