Photo: A Fall Sunset

Fall Sunset

Sunsets are pretty cool any time of year, but they seem to be even better in the fall. Take for example this sunset seen from our front yard. The dying grass is full of those fall colors, as are the leaves of all but the evergreen trees, which are, of course, still ever green. Hence the name. And the sky takes on all sorts of colors when there aren’t any clouds to block the sun’s rays from reaching far across the sky, so that you get a nice gradient from blue to yellow. Even the contrail of a distant airplane adds a nice touch to the scene by throwing a little streak of lightness in the sky.

Several fall photos from the past here on Burnsland are consistently, popular, but perhaps the most widely viewed is the Fall Afternoon photo from a couple of years ago. It is interesting that people search for and find that one more than most of the other fall photos here. A personal favorite of mine is A Nice Fall Morning, which features a similar view as today’s photo, except that it was taken at a different time of day. Hence the “morning” in the name.

While I am definitely a summer kind of guy due to the nice warm weather and more relaxed days when school is not in session, I do enjoy the fall as well - the fall colors, the crispness of the cool (but not too cold) air, and just a change in the normal routine. So while I do love summer, I am glad to live in a place that has definite seasons. Except when Old Man Winter comes around. But I can deal with him, too.
