Pelicans at the Beach
When I look at this view from Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the first thing I am reminded of from our trip there is seeing all the pelicans. The two birds flying are pelicans, and then you can see several pelicans in the water as well.
On each of our beach trips, I spend lots of time watching the pelicans. They don’t get as close to us as the seagulls do, instead preferring to stay out in the water. They glide effortlessly near the surface of the water, and then they soar up high before diving down to catch a fish. Or if they aren’t fishing, they sit on the surface of the water, just riding the waves.
One of these days, I am going to borrow a zoom lens to try to get some closer photos of these birds as they do their thing, just because I enjoy watching them.
However, as much as I enjoy pelicans, I’m not so sure that they make an intimidating basketball mascot.
But then, neither would I.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? - Matthew 6:25-27
