Path Through the Grass at Cocoa Beach
Almost There
A pathway leads through the sea grass and over the sand dunes to the beach at Cocoa Beach, Florida, as seen during our June 2018 visit. We were primarily in the Orlando/Kissimmee area during our trip, but we drove over to Cocoa Beach for the day.
When you arrive at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, you have to walk across the sand dunes to get from the parking lot out to the beach. It is a slightly long walk if you are carrying beach chairs, a beach umbrella, a beach bag, an insulated cooler bag, and a camera bag, all of which we usually bring with us, because we like to stay out on the beach as long as possible.
But even with carrying all of our stuff, I like the walk out to the beach. I like that it isolates you from the parking lot, keeping the cars a long way away from the tranquility of the beach. It gives you even more of a sense of getting away from it all, which is exactly what I like to do when I go to the beach.
Back in the old days, I used to think it might be nice to be able to take your computer out to the beach and sit there to get some work done. These days, you can do that, thanks to mobile phones and wireless internet. However, that is the last thing I would want to do right now. And it has nothing to do with getting sand in my computer.
More and more, I like to get away from everything, including work, email, and whatever else. So why interrupt a good day at the beach with work?
Umbrellas Everywhere
I do like the views of the beach through the sea grass that you can see as you walk along the path to the beach. The sea grass adds an interesting foreground element, I think.
As you can see in this photo, there were beach umbrellas everywhere. But actually the beach was not quite as crowded as that might seem. Those umbrellas were concentrated in one area. However, the guy renting out the umbrellas was doing quite a good business that day. We were thankful to have our own umbrellas with us, but it is nice to know that something is available for those who can’t bring their own. On days like this particular June day, you need some protection from the sun.
Hello, Winter Weather!
Right now, some of that sun would really be nice! It seems as though we had two or three nice weeks of fall weather, but now we have plunged right into winter. Below freezing temperatures and snowflakes are showing up in the weather forecast. And it is only mid-November.
I said the other day that I am thankful that we live in a place where the seasons change. I still am thankful for that, but it would be nice if some of those seasons stuck around for a little while longer than they do.
Actually, I know that the fall weather will probably be back soon, and that this is just a short spell of winter-like weather. After all, winter itself is still over a month away. This is just a preview of what might be ahead. And a reminder to make sure I know where all my warmest clothes are.

About the Photos
During this trip, I switch from primarily using the fisheye lens for all of my photos to using either the 14-42mm zoom lens or the 25mm prime lens, just for some different photos from the ones I had taken over the past couple of years.
These were both taken with the prime lens. The facts that the lens does not zoom and that it is nowhere near as wide as the fisheye lens caused me to think a little more about composition, and that added to the fun of taking these photos. Why bother doing the same thing all of the time? Change things up to have some fun sometimes.
