Passing Monorails at Walt Disney World

Two Monorail trains pass each other near the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in the early evening hours.

This was one of those cool moments from one of our evening walks around Seven Seas Lagoon at the end of the day from our Florida trip this past summer. As we were walking along, two Monorails going opposite directions passed each other, and of course I had my camera ready, seeing the photo opportunity as the trains were approaching each other. Of course, this sort of thing happens quite regularly there, as the trains on the two beamways are always going in opposite directions. But for those of us who live out where there are no Monorails, it is still pretty cool to see. And I try to get a photo of it as often as I can.

Riding in the Monorails as they pass each other is always fun, too. But at this particular time, we were out to get some exercise, and you don’t really do much walking when you are riding a Monorail. You might get to stand if the train is crowded, but that doesn’t really count as exercise. Because if it did, everyone would be standing up inside their cars as they drive to work each day. And while you might rack up some serious miles, depending on your drive, you still wouldn’t really be getting any exercise. Unless you put a treadmill in your car.  But if you were to go to all of that trouble, wouldn’t it just be easier to walk?
