A Park in Nassau, Bahamas
A Quiet Place
People relax in a small park near the Parliament building in Nassau, Bahamas, as seen during our 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise.
On each of our cruise stops in Nassau, we have passed this small park, usually when we are on our way back to the ship. It is a few blocks away from the main street with all of the shops that most of the cruisers visit. And it offers a quiet place to sit and relax. You can sit under the shade of one of the many interesting trees. Or on this particular December day, you could actually enjoy the warmth of the sun, because the weather was just about perfect.
I always think this park looks nice. But we almost never linger there. It seems that we follow just about the same route each time we are in Nassau. So by the time we reach this park, we are on our way back to the ship and do not stop there. Even on this trip, I just took a quick photo or two as we were walking by the park.
But others had stopped there for longer, as you can see. If you look closely, some are looking at their phones. Others are actually talking on their phones. Some are looking at maps, most likely plotting their next path. And some are just walking through, as we were.
A Different World
I do like the look of the twisted tree. It almost looks as if the tree is really just a bunch of vines twisted together with leaves at the end. I find that to be fascinating because it seems like it is something from another world. Which in some ways, it is. The Bahamas is quite different from Tennessee in many ways. Including the trees there.
When I was growing up, I naively thought that most of the world was like where I lived. I knew that in other places the people spoke a different language than English. And I knew that in some places it got hotter or colder than where we were, or it rained or snowed more or less than what we got.
It was not until I was older that I started to realize that there are many differences, and bigger differences, besides just language and climate.
The animals in many places are much different than where we are. I went on a trip to Canada one time. All of my time was spent in the middle of Toronto, so I did not get to see much. But I was quite surprised to see a black squirrel, which was very different from the gray squirrels that we have at home.
In Bangkok, I was introduced to all sorts of fruits that I had never even heard of before. Not only are the trees different in places, but so are the fruits of the plants and trees that grow there. Once again, some of those fruits looked like they came from an alien world, but they are quite common there. And delicious, too.
The world is a fascinating place. And it is full of all sorts if interesting places and things to discover. All you have to do is look.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. - Hebrews 11:3
About the Photo
For these most recent photos I have shared, Luminar has been my photo processing program of choice. This park was interesting on its own. But I really like the atmosphere that the processing adds here. It almost adds another dimension to the photo, especially in the detail of the tree.
