Our Umbrellas at Cocoa Beach

When we are at the beach, we come with lots of baggage. Of course, I am talking about the actual, physical kind of baggage. Maybe we come with emotional baggage, too. But the beach usually takes care of that.
When all three of us are at the beach, our baggage includes two umbrellas, three beach chairs, a bag with towels and stuff, a cooler bag with lunch, and a camera bag. It is a good thing that there are three of us to carry it all. When just two of us go, we can cut down to one umbrella and two beach chairs. Also included but not seen here is a wave board, because Laura and Jaylin were out in the water with it at the time. But it is one more thing that we carry.
I should have turned the left umbrella so that you can see Mickey Mouse better. Yes, the umbrella does have Mickey’s face on it, and his ears stick up from the top, as you can see. And two of the beach chairs are Mickey chairs, too. There is no mistaking which stuff is ours when we are at the beach.
Safety First
You may also notice that our beach camp is set up pretty close to the colorful Cocoa Beach lifeguard hut. That is not necessarily a requirement for us at the beach, but it helps.
We mainly chose our spot because it was relatively close to where we crossed the dunes after parking our car. As you can imagine, we do not want to walk too far with all of that stuff. We just happen to usually park near where the lifeguard hut is.
However, there is a sense of comfort being somewhat close to the lifeguards. We have never needed our services in our Cocoa Beach visits, and we have rarely seen others need them. But I know it happens from time to time. And for that, it is good to have them there.
So it is good to have the lifeguards around. When Laura and I were in Hawaiʻi, some of the beaches we visited had lifeguards because they were public parks, and some of the non-park beaches did not have lifeguards. While we still swam at the beaches without the lifeguards, it was a slight comfort to know they were there at the park beaches, just in case anyone needed them.
Some people in life are risk takers. That can be fun, but it can also be, well, risky. There have been several news stories in the last year or two of people losing their lives while trying to get a risky photo for social media.
As a general rule, we like to play it nice and safe. You can still have a good time without hanging over the edge of a cliff or some other silly thing like that. And you can live to tell about it later, too. We just aren’t the kind of people to see how close we can get to danger without getting hurt.

About the Photo
This one is another one of those bold beach looks. Slightly different from the last few beach photos shared here perhaps, but still bold. And colorful. I really like the strong colors, especially with the lifeguard hut in the background. And the blue of the sky is great here, too.
I guess I am just a colorful photo kind of guy. Hopefully, there is nothing wrong with that.
