Old Photos: Saturn V Rocket
A Saturn V Rocket hangs overhead in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Continuing with the Old Photos theme of the week, this photo is from our family trip to Huntsville a few years ago. After our visit, we were wondering why we hadn’t been there before.
As you may know, the Saturn V rockets were what took Americans to the moon during the Apollo moons. Of course, this Saturn V did not actually fly in space, but it the first full size Saturn V to be completed, and it was used for testing. Interestingly, in the lower right corner of the photo, you can also see the actual Apollo 16 command module, which actually did fly in space and bring the astronauts back home. And unfortunately, the Saturn V was much too big to fit into one photo. It really is impressive when you can stand underneath it.
I keep thinking we will get back to Huntsville again. Maybe one of these days.
