Observations of the Past Week(s) (3/21/14)

The Observations of the Past Week have been missing from around here for quite a while, although they can always be found at Twitter and Facebook. Be sure and follow along there, just in case they take another leave of absence from around here. Because you wouldn’t want to miss anything, would you? I didn’t think so.

When I went out this morning, I thought the horses said, “Hey!” But as it turns out, they were just saying, “Hay!” (Why couldn’t the stupid English language have two different-sounding words for that?)

I like the end of Daylight Savings Time much better than its beginning. (Because there isn’t much I would want to give up an hour of sleep for.)

Time to go home, and it is nowhere close to dark yet. I could get used to that. The dark mornings, not quite so much. (The good and the bad of Daylight Saving Time.)

One of the landscape workers outside is whistling. Badly. (I guess his hands were too full for him to carry a tune.)

Aren’t you glad they didn’t invent text messages until after the rotary phone was obsolete? (And how would you backspace on a rotary phone, anyway?)

People who wear their sunglasses on the back of their head make me laugh every time I see it. (Although I keep looking for the eyes in the back of their heads.)

Laura: “I’m all wrapped up in you.” Steve: “Like bacon?” (And that was the end of that conversation.)

We are getting a hard rain, and there is a deer in the front yard eating grass. He must really be hungry. (Or he is just saying to all the others, “Ha ha! Who’s getting all the grass now?”)

This had definitely been one of those weekends that you hate to see end. (The end of the weekend is always the worst part.)

Happy St. Patrick’s Eve! Can’t wait to get up in the morning and see what the Leprechaun brought us! (Unfortunately, he must have forgotten to stop at our house.)

Cloudy on St. Patrick’s Day? How can I find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if there isn’t any sun? (If it weren’t for those clouds, I could have retired!)

It’s one of those nights when the only thing on TV halfway worth watching is the Dukes of Hazzard. Why again do we pay for TV? (Apparently, we pay for the privilege of watching the Dukes of Hazzard.)

This morning I wanted to do something revolutionary. So I rolled over and went back to sleep. (Join the revolution! Roll over with me!)

Someone’s building alarm has been going off all afternoon. I’m sure if there were burglars, they would be gone by now. (Or they would have found a way to turn off that annoying alarm.)

You mean to tell me that claustrophobia isn’t the fear of Santa Claus? Who knew? (Trying to make sense out of Jaylin’s spelling words.)

Running words together into one hashtag #makesmemad (Actually, I’m not a big hashtag fan, in case you were wondering.)

Those street sweeper trucks sure do make a lot of noise for going so slowly. (It’s a good thing there isn’t a quiet hospital nearby. Oh wait, there is.)

It’s the first day of spring. I’m feeling pretty springy - how about you? (If I had springs in my feet, that would be pretty cool.)

If someone finished my sandwich, I wouldn’t think it was crazy. I would think it was mean and probably punch them. (That’s a Frozen reference, just in case you didn’t know. And don’t touch my sandwich.)

The first day of spring is a beautiful spring day. How often does that happen? (Not very often here in Tennessee - seems it is always cold and cloudy.)

That’s it for this time. Be sure to check back in the not-too-distant future for more!
