Observations of the Past Week (4/9/13)

The Observations of the Past Week from Twitter and Facebook seem to be a regular feature around here once again. Although that depends on your definition of “regular.”

After a fantastic weekend, Monday at work seems so ordinary. (But I will take a fantastic weekend any time.)

Is April Fools Day actually named for those who seem to enjoy it so much? (Yes.)

I think we have some genuine Louisiana gator hunters here changing out some ceiling tiles. (Either that, or someone somewhere is missing an accent.)

This morning, all the tweets were about April Fools Day. This afternoon, it’s baseball. I apparently have nothing to add on either subject. (I’m no fool - for baseball.)

Don’t you hate finding an error in your blog post after several people have already viewed it? (I’m not talking about this post. I think.)

I keep smelling barbecue. I wonder if someone had it for lunch, or if my sense of smell needs recalibration? (Or maybe both.)

Nothing like getting to listen to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony while I am on hold. Cool! (Pardon me while I hum along.)

It only took until April 3rd for me to flip the office calendar to the current month. That’s like a new record. (Also, I always wonder why I am behind for the first few days of each month.)

It is a rainy Thursday morning. I blame the Communists. (Always good to have a fall guy.)

I saw someone stop at a green light. I guess you can’t be too careful. (Except they should be more careful that someone doesn’t run into the back of them.)

Don’t you hate it when you email someone and then they call you? Just email me back. If I had wanted to talk to you, I would have called. (I wonder if they would hate it if I didn’t answer the phone?)

Why weren’t the Phoenicians with their fancy new alphabet better at fonicks? (Of course, that answer should be obvious with a name like “Phoenicians.”)

Roses are red, violets are blue, rain is wet, and so am I. (And on another note, I always wondered why I didn’t care for poetry.)

Why don’t we have self-emptying dishwashers? This is 2013, for crying out loud. (I can do without flying cars, but flying-into-the-cabinet dishes might be nice.)

Hey, look! The sun is out! I could get used to that. Where are my sunglasses? (They were in the corner crying because no one ever uses them any more.)

There is something shiny in the bush outside the window. I am resisting going to see what it is. But it is shiny. (And no, I am not a monkey. I think.)

Tonight we are going to Taste of Harding, which I have just learned does not involve licking the school building. (A fundraiser for the school doesn’t necessarily involve tasting the school. Sounds like false advertising to me.)

Harding tasted pretty good tonight, and nothing at all like brick. Nice to see old friends, too. (These functions are always nostalgia nights for me.)

I love my church family. (Hopefully the feeling is mutual.)
