Observations of the Past Week (1/14-1/20)

Here they are - the Observations of the Past Week from Twitter and Facebook. Actually, they are from my brain. But that’s beside the point.

As the time to go home draws closer, time slows down. How does it do that? (Time warp!)

Aw man, I have to get rid of one of my favorite shirts because it is worn out. (Favorite shirts always seem to wear out faster than the ones you don’t like and never wear. Why is that?)

Nothing like being woken up in the night by a strong skunk smell. (Ugh.)

Twelve years ago today we moved into our house. Has it been that long? (Hopefully, we won’t be moving again any time soon.)

For those wondering, I did not pass out after giving blood this time. Unlike last time. (Personal victory.)

As of today, I have decided to finally give up on my dream of being a Solid Gold Dancer. (Of course, Solid Gold went off the air over 20 years ago. And I can’t dance anyway.)

Happy Tuesday that feels like a Monday! Unless you were among those of us who worked yesterday. Then you are just confused. (Monday holidays always throw me off. Even when I work them.)

Dear Wind, Just stop it already. Love, Steve (Always messing up my hair.)

As of today, Laura and I have been married for 18 and 1/2 years. (After I posted that, many people thought for some reason that it was our 18th anniversary. No, that is why there is a 1/2 after it. Only 6 more months to 19!)

On hold with a power company. Listening to some music that is about to put me to sleep. (Maybe they hope you will sleep so you don’t realize how long you are on hold.)

The on hold music is Let It Be. John Lennon is probably rolling over in his grave in time with the slow, melodic tones. (I don’t think that is the way he intended that song to be played. Why couldn’t they just let it be?)

Now it’s an easy listening version of Behind Closed Doors. Will they laugh if I am singing when they take me off hold? (These youngsters today don’t have any idea who Charlie Rich is, anyway.)

I can’t wait for that lunch bell to ring! Oh wait, we don’t have a lunch bell here. (Maybe we should get one.)

Good morning and happy Thursday! Which just happens to be the day before Friday, by the way. And garbage day. But that is beside the point. (Maybe that was confusing. Thursday is also garbage day. Not that Thursday is the day before Friday and the day before garbage day. I’m sure there is some English teacher rule about that.)

I think my caffeine is going to run out before my afternoon does. (Actually, that happens most every day.)

Overheard a parent say “You know that one of God’s 10 Commandments is do to others as you want them to do to you.” Close, but not quite. (At least she was somewhat on the right track, though.)

Okay, time to take the garbage to the street. Anyone want to do it for me? (Surprisingly, there were no volunteers.)

How to cause a stir - Step no. 1: Get a spoon. (The bigger the spoon, the better, apparently.)
