Nighttime in Bangkok

The lights of Bangkok, Thailand, glow from its buildings and streets at night as a few clouds pass by overhead.

While we were in Bangkok, one of the many highlights was going to Gary and Michelle’s apartment to see the view of the city at night. As you can see, their apartment is pretty high up, and it has a great view of the city, and that view is even better at night. You can’t tell it from the photo, but the really tall building at the left even had rotating messages at the top in that lighted area. I guess when your building is so tall that just about everyone in the area can see it, you might as well find a way to make a little money off of it, right?

To a rural guy like me, this view was fascinating. I enjoyed being able to do a few long exposure photos from their balcony along with just taking in the view while I was out there. And this was only a small part of the city, too. I was amazed at how it goes on and on and on. I don’t get much of a chance to do nighttime photography around our house, because there really isn’t much to see besides the trees and stars.

But as interesting as it was, I don’t plan to move from the country to a big city any time soon. I will just be content to enjoy a view like this when I can get it.

About the photo:
While I used the f/1.8 lens for most of this trip, I switched here to the wider angle 14-42mm lens to get more in the frame. And I used the Olympus app on my iPhone to control the camera remotely, just to make sure that I didn’t shake it any. Pretty cool to be able to control it that way.
