Nighttime at the Boat Dock

Nighttime at the boat dock at Pickwick Landing State Park in Tennessee

Lights shine at night on the boat dock at the Pickwick Landing State Park Inn in Tennessee, and from the bridge over Pickwick Landing Dam in the distance.

If you have been around here much, you will have noticed that this boat dock provided several different photographic opportunities for me. I took a photo of it during the day. I took a photo of it in the evening. I took a photo of Laura on the dock. And now this nighttime photo. I’m not really sure there is any other way to photograph the dock. Although that won’t keep me from trying if we go back.

To me, having water in a photo always makes it more interesting. Even in a still photo, water adds an element of motion, because you know water in lakes and rivers is almost always moving. Or pond water is still enough to reflect the surroundings. A long-exposure photo of water makes its surface more reflective, too, as in the case of the lake water in this photo.

Hmm, maybe I should go more places with water for my photos.
